Community Commitment
At the Toolbox Inc. we have been extremely fortunate to have meet and worked with several early adopters of the various services, workshops and events that we offer. When Social Media was new we learned from many of these early adopters the importance of giving back to the community. In that spirit we work and promote groups that freely share their information and make things easier for the web community at large.
Web Development
The Boston WordPress Meetup is a Meetup group for fans of WordPress, the most popular open source blogging engine. Once a month we meet to learn and teach more about WordPress and meet other WP fans, including SEO gurus, theme designers, plugin developers, bloggers, and beginners. It is the 3rd largest WordPress Development group in the world. We are co-organizers for this group, video all the meetups and get them posted on the Boston WP YouTube Channel. To help support the community even more their Boston WordPress Website were you can find a great blog, forums, post a job or find a WordPress Developer to fill your needs. The best part of all of this is its all free!
We also volunteer part of the Organizational Team for WordCamp Boston, the official WordPress Camp for Massachusetts and the largest gathering of WordPress Developers and Fans in New England. In addition to voluteering, Reiko is a frequent speaker at this event. For both WordCamp Boston and WordCamp Providence we produce the video that is made available on both YouTube and the WordPress.TV channels.
Social Media Marketing
For Social Media Marketing we are frequent contributors to many of the PodCamps in the New England Area. If you are a content producer or want-to-be content marketer you need to know about these camps! Podcamp is an unconference where newbies and advanced content makers alike come to learn more about and share their knowledge of podcasting, blogging, video blogging, social media and more. We often run sessions, video and blog about the sessions we attend. Here is a sample from PodCamp Western Mass on blogging from Steve Sherlock.
For our immediate community we run South Shore Tweet-up the first Wednesday of each month. This networking group is for people interested in technology, social media, social networking here on the South Shore of Massachusetts. Each meetup we feature a presentation from a local expert in many of the areas of Web Development, Social Media Marketing, or Business Productivity. This is a totally free event and all we ask is that you buy something from the restaurant so they continue to let us use the facility.
