Developing your Website Plan is essential to building a great site. The better your plan and preparation is before starting to build will make your overall building process much easier. It will increase the odds of getting the site that does what you want it to do. In our Developing Your Website Plan Hands-on Workshop you’ll be determining the overall goals of your site, what all the things are that you want your site to do, create a sitemap, and determine what content you need to develop before starting to build.
The first step we will take you through is determining the overall goal and secondary goals for your site. Most sites have a primary goal. Is it to sell a product or service? Is it to raise awareness of a cause and raise money? Is it mostly informational for a group? Once this is determined they we’ll look at secondary goals for the site and who is the target audience.
The second step is to list all the thing you think you want to have on your site. Most people we have built sites for find that they want there site do do almost everything they can think of. The process of just listing everything will be a great start to the overall organization of the site.
A great website plan comes from creating a sitemap. The sitemap will organize all the things you want on your site and prioritizes them. This will determine the navigation of the site and give you a pretty good idea how your site should layout.
